Kevin Kern is the Pesticide Registration Specialist in MDARD’s Pesticide and Plant Pest Management (PPPM) Division’s Pesticide Section, after serving as a pesticide inspector for over 18 years in the Saginaw Bay and Thumb area of Michigan. Kevin grew up on a small farm in Frankenmuth and after graduating from Michigan State University, worked as an assistant manager and pesticide coordinator in the Plant Science Research Greenhouse Facility on campus, as well as a short stint as an agronomist at Star of the West Milling Company in Richville, Michigan. Currently, Kevin works with the regulated community, PPPM inspectors, federal and other pesticide state lead agencies, and the general public to monitor and help ensure the proper registration and legal use of the more than 16,000 pesticides registered for sale in Michigan.
