Jeferson Pimentel is an agronomist and Ph.D. student in Purdue University’s Department of Agronomy. He earned an M.S. in Biological and Agricultural Engineering from the University of Arkansas, with a specialization in water management for row crops. He also worked as a Research Project Analyst, focusing on greenhouse gas mitigation in rice production. At Purdue, Jeferson investigates root–soil–fertilizer interactions to develop hybrid-specific fertilizer placement and site-specific hybrid selection strategies, and he leads on-farm trials that optimize yield through variable nitrogen and seeding prescriptions. Jeferson was recently selected to become a member of the 2025–2028 FFAR Fellows, a national program that cultivates future leaders in the food and agriculture sector.
