Developing new tools for detecting and mitigating Late Maturity Alpha-Amylase (LMA) and preharvest sprout in wheat

Date: 1/26/23
Time: 10:15 AM

Room/Location: Swan Creek
Speakers: Dr. Amber Hauvermale, Washington State University

This presentation will discuss the two genetic conditions that result in low falling numbers and decreased wheat end-use quality caused by high levels of alpha-amylase. It will also describe the collective efforts to develop new immunological tools for rapid screening and detection of high alpha-amylase, and efforts to develop the genetic tools necessary to breed for LMA and PHS resistant wheat.
